CASP is invol ved in public education, counseling, training of volunteers, outreach work with marginalized communities, provision of emotional/psychological support to People Living with HIV/AIDS as well as many other HIV/AIDS-related activities. Targeted toward the northern region populations of Peninsular Malaysia, CASP also organizes International AIDS Memorial Day (IAMD) and World AIDS Day (WAD) as an annual major event to make their services known to the public and at the same time, gather more support for the common cause.

HIV/AIDS first touched the Malaysian waters in 1986 and soon in 1988 Penang Newspapers carried the first HIV/AIDS reported case in the Pearl of the Orient. Till June 2007 Penang has recorded a total of 3,182 new HIV infected cases, 704 developed into AIDS and 466 reported dead.

Lets fight AIDS and not people with AIDS

CASP organized a very memorable IAMD 2008 on 18th May at Bayview Beach Resort with our Chief Minister as the main Guest of Honor. Among the many VIPs were Prof Adeeba Kamarulzaman the President of Malaysian AIDS Council, Dr Janizah from Jabatan Kesihatan Pulau Pinang and Religious Leaders from Christianity, Buddhism, Hinduism and Sikhism. The banquet hall was full to capacity and the Organizing Committee wishes to thank one and all for their support and cooperation in making this event a big success.
